About ETM

Expert Tool & Machine, Inc. (ETM) was founded in 1990 by Rudy Kobus in the Dallas, Texas metropolitan area. It began as a machine shop doing custom machining on conventional equipment, later adding CNC technologies.

ETM grew into a full capacity turn-key operation with machining, design and build, fabrication, mechanical installation and process piping, including short lead time turnaround. The team analyzes mechanical performance issues, develops solutions and helps customers cut equipment downtime.

Mission: to produce and provide high quality products with value added services that help improve our customers' manufacturing processes and resolve the customers' needs however large or small those needs may be.

Common questions

What CNC machining can Expert Tool & Machine do?

CNC milling with 3, 4 and 5 axis capability and a CNC turning center with up to 35 inch diameter capacity, programmed in Mastercam. ETM also does conventional milling and turning, drilling, grinding, tapping and deburring on ferrous and non-ferrous materials including plastics and polymers.

Can you reverse engineer or remanufacture an OEM part?

Yes. ETM can reverse engineer, remanufacture and modify OEM parts, and makes repair and replacement components.

Do you take prototypes as well as production runs?

Yes. Prototype work, short and long run production, and small to large quantity custom machined parts.

Do you build mezzanines, platforms and catwalks?

Yes. The fabrication and mechanical installation department designs, builds and installs mezzanines, platforms, catwalks, cross-overs, guards, chutes and manual or automated mezzanine gates for food and commercial manufacturing.

How do you document process piping welds?

ETM uses a programmable orbital welder that prints a document verifying weld integrity, and uses purge monitors to check for an adequate purge inside the pipe before welding.

Can your engineers supply drawings and PE certification?

Yes. Engineers build custom 3-D models, drawings and designs in SolidWorks and provide Professional Engineering certification when needed.
